Physical Therapy Session
What is Sports Therapy?

Sports Therapy is an aspect of healthcare that is specifically concerned with the prevention of injury and the rehabilitation of the patient back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness, regardless of age and ability.  A whole person approach ensures a Sports Therapist will address not only your specific area of pain but also explore the possible causes.  An assessment may involve postural analysis, strength testing and joint range measuring which will all be complemented by a range of treatment options. A Sports Therapist will use hands on treatment including massage, mobilisation, stretches and taping but what differentiates a Sports Therapist from many other forms of therapy is exercise prescription and rehabilitation.  Your treatments are supported by a personalized home exercise program to get you moving better and stabilize the injured area.  You do not need to be an elite athlete to benefit from this elite care.

Trained to graduate level, Sports Therapists have to complete continued professional development which is monitored by the Society of Sport Therapists. This ensures all users of Sports Therapy receive a high standard of care. You will often see Sports Therapists working in a variety of sports as well as private practice.
